The design is inspired from the cross cut into the Kulistein stone,
a runic stone erected on the island of Kuli between Edøy and Smøla
in Møre og Romsdal county. This stone is said to be one of the earliest
relics proving the existence of Christianity in Norway.
The cross is used by all the senior rectors in Møre diocese.
